The Urban Expert was founded in Amsterdam in 2012 with a single conviction: that renovation should be a joyful experience, not a stressful one. We have spent the past twelve years proving that it can be — on over 120 projects across the Netherlands.
We work with homeowners who care deeply about their homes — people who want spaces that are genuinely beautiful, thoughtfully designed, and built to last. Every project follows the same five-step process — refined over 120 renovations to be as smooth and stress-free as possible for our clients.
Discovery Consultation
We start with a free 60-minute consultation — in your home or at our Amsterdam studio. We listen to how you live, what is not working, and what you dream of. No sales pitch, no pressure.
Concept & Design
Our team develops a full design concept: floor plans, material palettes, 3D visualisations, and a detailed specification. You see exactly what you are getting before a single wall is touched.
Permits & Planning
We handle all permit applications with your gemeente, coordinate structural engineers where needed, and manage the full contractor tender process. You do not need to speak to a single official.
Build & Oversight
Our project managers are on site every day. We manage all trades, handle every snag, and keep you updated weekly. You can check in as much or as little as you like.
Reveal & Aftercare
We hand over a finished home — fully styled, cleaned, and ready to live in. Every project includes a 12-month aftercare period and a dedicated point of contact for any questions.
